In reality I started my games journalism career by mostly writing for two places. One had a strict “we never say anything bad about any game” policy so I learned to talk between the lines pretty fast. The other place had me doing 300 word reviews of over 15 games a day so I learned to base everything I said off forum chatter and vague, drunken recollections of seeing the game demoed at E3.

I was a pretty crappy games journalist to be honest.
