This seems to be a uniquely Australian thing, the concept of retailers across the country selling games before the release date if one store in the country sells one copy by mistake. Having seen first hand the logistics and worrying that goes behind enforcing a retail release date, I can see there’s a lot more to the story than the short term thrill of someone being able to play a game a day or two before the official release date. It’s a worrying trend that has real ramifications for the industry.
THEN AGAIN, 19 years ago today Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was supposed to come out (Sonic Two’sday!) and I felt like a God damn KING AMONGST MEN because I bought it a day early. The joke was on me because it took like 4 hours to full complete it. Oh well Sonic 2 was still cool anyway.
