I’m Going to PAX Australia!on July 12, 2013
I’ve probably mentioned it on Twitter a couple of times but just to reiterate – I’m very excited about going to the first Penny Arcade Expo in Australia, which is only a few weeks away!
What makes it especially exciting is that I’m going just for the hell of it. Unlike things like E3 or Supanova I won’t be attending as someone behind a table or in a booth, I’m going just as part of the crowd and can actually soak up the atmosphere and just concentrate on having fun. As an exhibitor for these kinds of events it’s very hard to actually see or do anything at the show, and you’re usually too tired to do anything after hours, so the opportunity to just go and enjoy the ride is incredibly enticing!
There’s a lot of neat stuff to see and do at the show, and I’m looking forward especially to the retrogaming and indiegaming areas. Yes, I’m going to fly to Melbourne just to play some more Commodore 64, you got a problem with that? Word has it there’ll be the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on display, but I have a feeling the lines are going to be massive for those two and there’s not much I want to play on the new machines at the moment. Oh Killer Instinct, that’ll be worth a look.
Are you going? Let me know! I want to meet people. I want to talk about video games and comics and show visiting Americans our game store retail catalogues to demonstrate how screwed we have always been here in Australia. I want to play games that I haven’t heard of before and find something new and cool. I want to street pass and also figure out how street passing works. I want sing and dance and wait maybe not these ones got carried away there.
SO! Tell me if you’re coming to the show too! I am gonna shake SO MANY HANDS AND THEN SUBTLY WASH MY HANDS WITH THAT HAND SANITIZER STUFF WHILE YOU’RE NOT LOOKING.
